Nothing will improve your drumming more than if you play along to live music. As that progresses I'll start scatting over it, just looking for the texture of how lyrics might rest on top of it. If it seems to be building up nicely, I'll quickly do a scratch recording of it, along with a vocal description of key, time, chord progression… etc.

What I love about this melody is variation in rhythm, you've got this staggering arp-like A section, then a long note followed by the close of the melody in a different rhythm. In terms of the drums for the intro of this Trap beat, I chose to just use some layered 808 drums with a few difference Trap Snares types layered together to create a unique and catchy snare sequence, which can be seen below.

The rhythm of this is a substitution of three internal beats for two. This is an instrument which is used most of the times in long and multiple bar chord vamps, because it can hold notes for very long periods of time. In fact sometimes the hook changes completely and you can have a different song idea than you started with, so now you have two or more song idea instead of just one.

When you listen to a melody you can tell what is the number of beats in one bar mainly because of its semantic structure, however it's not lil uzi type beat always so simple as in our Fere Jacques melody. The main thing lacking in every amateur beat maker's tracks is a lack of chord changes and song sections.

Type Beats are usually uploaded on YouTube for display and promotion, and on the beatmakers' websites for sale, or on platforms made for this ( Soundclick , Beatstars , ExpertBeats , '¦). Kanye West has used the "chipmunk" effect in many of his songs, and has been used in many other artists' music in the 2010s.
